Cap records and shares screen or webcam video using three modes: Instant Mode for quick recordings with auto-generated titles/summaries/chapters/transcripts, Studio Mode for full-quality local recording and editing before sharing, and Screenshot Mode for hotkey captures with enhancements. Cap is fully open source, supports local recording, and can be self-hosted; it can also connect to your own Google Drive or S3 bucket for storage.
