What does DesignDNA do?

DesignDNA turns the look and rules of any website into an AI-ready design system. With a browser extension, you scan a page and download a ZIP containing a clear design-system.md plus multiple export formats so your agent can generate UI that matches the source design language.

The output includes design-system.md (AI-enhanced documentation), W3C-standard tokens.json, variables.css (CSS custom properties), theme.css (Tailwind v4 configuration), and figma-export.json for rebuilding design tokens in Figma. It’s designed to be more than a visual snapshot—capturing computed styling and structured system details like typography, colors, spacing, shadows, radius, components, assets, and motion.

Use the generated files with AI coding agents like Cursor or Claude Code by attaching the design-system.md for context. You can also import figma-export.json directly into Figma to reconstruct typography scale and color tokens as native variables, then iterate from there.

What does DesignDNA extract from a website?

It compiles a design system spec that includes a design-system.md plus exports for tokens and styling. The output covers typography, colors, spacing, shadows, radius, components, assets, and motion.

What files do I get when I compile a site?

You download a ZIP containing design-system.md along with tokens.json, variables.css, theme.css, and figma-export.json (plus additional generated files depending on the compile).

Which AI coding agents can use the output?

The exported design-system.md is meant to plug directly into agents like Cursor and Claude Code. Attach the file to your agent prompt to generate on-brand UI using the extracted system.

Can I import the results into Figma?

Yes. Use figma-export.json to reconstruct typography scale and color tokens in Figma as native variables.

Is there a free way to try DesignDNA?

Yes—adding the extension is free, and you can try compiling on any website.

What pricing plans are available?

DesignDNA offers Starter and Pro yearly plans. The site also mentions using a promo code for 25% discount.
