What does Armsmith do?

Armsmith helps families, couples, writers, and gaming communities create a personalized coat of arms using a guided heraldry workflow. Pick an occasion, choose a look, select symbols and colors, and optionally add a name and motto—then generate one original square crest from your brief.

You control the direction with illustrated steps like shield shape, central symbol, field pattern, supporters, and art style (from classical and engraved to fantasy or minimal). Credits are associated with image generation, with a Standard option and an HD option for higher detail.

After generation, your designs are kept in your private archive so you can revisit earlier ideas, reuse the same configuration, and export the stored files at the resolution you need. Armsmith creates original creative heraldry artwork, not official grants or historical entitlement.

What can I include in a crest with Armsmith?

You can choose the occasion and, optionally, add a name and motto to appear on the crest. You also select the visual details like shield shape, colors, symbols, patterns, and supporters.

Do I have to fill in both the name and motto fields?

No. Leave either field blank to omit it, and keep the spelling and capitalization exactly as you want it rendered.

What’s the difference between Standard and HD exports?

Standard uses 10 credits and exports at 1K resolution, while HD uses 30 credits and exports at 4K resolution for more detailed use.

How do generation credits work in Armsmith?

Credits are charged only when a commission is accepted. If a provider failure occurs, the charged credits are restored.

Where do my generated crests go after I create them?

Completed designs are saved in your private archive, where you can review past commissions, reuse saved configurations, and download the stored image files.

Is a generated crest an official grant of arms?

No. Armsmith produces original creative heraldry artwork and does not search registers or certify entitlement to recorded arms.
