HARPA AI is a browser extension that combines a hybrid AI engine with web automation to read, understand, and act on web page content. It lets you browse smarter by summarizing pages and videos, answering questions with source citations, writing in your style, automating tasks, monitoring pages for updates, and more. You can access AI models like OpenAI GPT-4o, Claude 3.7, DeepSeek, Gemini 2.0, Llama, and Perplexity directly on any web page.
What is HARPA used for?
HARPA automates a wide range of web tasks: copywriting, email management, web searches, data extraction, price and page monitoring, SEO work, content creation (articles, outlines, social posts), talking to web pages and PDFs, generating prompts, and automating form filling and browser actions. It also supports YouTube video summarization, a Gmail assistant, and prompt-based workflows that run across web pages and apps.
What makes HARPA different?
HARPA can read, understand, and act on web page content, navigate pages, click elements, and extract data—then feed results to AI models or trigger automations (like Zapier or Make). It serves as an AI copilot for web browsing and automation across many websites and services, with ready-to-use prompts and the ability to create custom commands and automations.
Is HARPA free?
HARPA offers a basic free tier and a demo period for premium features. The paid plans include several options with different capabilities, plus megatokens as optional add-ons. Exact plan features and prices vary by plan.
What is included in the free plan?
The free tier provides unlimited basic messages, daily rate-limited power messages, access to over 100 predefined commands, and web page, price, and data monitoring features. Some advanced custom commands and automations are restricted to paid plans.
What are the paid plans and pricing?
- Everyone: One-time $120 (limited offer for a single user). Includes all free features plus unlimited power messages, custom AI commands, chat history, export chats, reusable chats across tabs, and cloud storage for commands (megatokens excluded).
- Professionals: $12 per seat per month (billed annually). Includes all features of Everyone plus multi-user collaboration (megatokens excluded).
- Automators: $20 per seat per month (billed annually). Includes loops and custom commands, scheduling/executing commands as actions, and 2 megatokens.
- Companies: $45 per seat per month (billed annually). Adds agent orchestration API, control over agent swarms for mass automation, Google Sheet integration, and 4 megatokens.
- S plan: Includes CloudGPT access for reliable GPT connections (required for GPT-4 access on HARPA). GPT-4 access via CloudGPT is recommended on this plan.
- Megatokens: Optional add-ons at $0 per month; each megatoken provides 1,000 queries and enables faster, more reliable CloudGPT interactions.
How do I get started with HARPA AI?
- Install HARPA AI from the official web store page or the HARPA AI website.
- Open HARPA AI on any website by clicking the HARPA icon in the browser toolbar (or press Alt+A on Windows / Ctrl+Shift+A on Mac).
- Connect HARPA to a language model provider by clicking the model switch in the bottom-left of the interface and selecting a provider (ChatGPT/OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, etc.).
- Start using HARPA by typing commands or questions in the chat. Use one of the 100+ predefined commands by typing “/”. You can also create custom commands and automations, using parameters like {{page}} to reference page content.
Which AI models does HARPA support?
HARPA supports multiple models, including OpenAI GPT-4o, Anthropic Claude 3.7, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, Llama, Perplexity, and more. It can connect to OpenAI GPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Perplexity, and Meta Llama, among others.
How can I access GPT-4 with HARPA?
HARPA CloudGPT supports GPT-4. To use GPT-4, upgrade to the S plan. GPT-4 is also available via ChatGPT Plus (OpenAI), which is subject to OpenAI’s limits (e.g., 50 requests per 3 hours). You can also connect to OpenAI API accounts for GPT-4 access.
How do I switch the GPT version or model in HARPA?
In the chat, locate the GPT connection button (you may need to expand the control panel by clicking the triangle). Select the desired connection and model. You can also switch by typing -3 to use GPT-3, -4 for GPT-4, -c for ClaudeAI, etc.
How does HARPA protect my privacy and data security?
HARPA is privacy-conscious and runs locally on your computer, so it does not store your data on HARPA servers. It does not log your conversations or actions. When you use AI features, prompts are sent to external AI service providers (e.g., OpenAI, Claude, Gemini) for processing and are not stored on HARPA’s servers. The product emphasizes local operation and user control over data.
Why does HARPA sometimes not open on a web page?
HARPA does not work with Google Sheets yet. Some domains (e.g., Discord) may require you to disable fingerprint protection. If HARPA popup doesn’t appear, ensure the HARPA icon has access to read/change site data, disable conflicting extensions like uBlock for the page, and allow popups for HARPA in your browser settings. On Chrome/Brave/Edge, follow the specific steps to allow HARPA to run on the domain.
Why do I get CRXFILENOT_READABLE error?
This can occur if you manually downloaded a CRX file or NordVPN’s THREAT PROTECT is ON. It’s recommended to install HARPA from the official Chrome Web Store. If you’re using NordVPN, turn THREAT PROTECT OFF while installing HARPA.
Why do HARPA chats not show up in ChatGPT?
HARPA chats can appear in chatgpt.com when using a Browser Session connection. If you don’t want dialogues to be automatically cleared when a tab closes, adjust this in the App Settings.
Why does HARPA say there is no video transcript?
If a YouTube video is very new or has few views, transcripts may not be available. If you use uBlock Origin, turn it off while running HARPA or allow XHR requests on YouTube.
Can HARPA generate blog outlines and articles?
Yes. HARPA has an extensive library of copywriting prompts and can generate and refine long articles in 18 writing styles, including the ability to mimic your writing style.
How do I turn off the bar that pops up when I select text?
Open the HARPA app settings and uncheck the “Show floating quick-access bar” option.
Which API connection is better: Browser Session or CloudGPT?
Browser Session is free; Browser Session Plus is $20 per month. CloudGPT (S plan) is the more reliable, fastest, and non-country-restricted GPT connection. OpenAI API keys can be used with HARPA with additional setup, typically billed by usage. GPT-4 access is unlimited with API keys; Browser Session has limits.
What search engines are supported?
HARPA provides AI search assistance for Google, Google Scholar, Baidu, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Brave, Yahoo, Naver, Yandex, Kagi, and Searx.
Can I reuse one AI dialogue across multiple browser tabs?
Yes, this feature is available on the HARPA S plan. Dialogue content is not stored on HARPA’s servers and is not synced between devices.
What is a Prompt and what is an AI Command?
A prompt is a message you send to an LLM (e.g., GPT-3.5/4). An AI Command is an automation recipe that may include steps that prompt LLMs. HARPA includes 100+ preconfigured commands; you can create your own to automate workflows, such as navigating a page, extracting data, and processing it with AI.
What are Prompt Parameters?
Prompt parameters customize prompts, such as:
- {{page}} to reference page content
- {{transcript}} to get a YouTube video transcript
- {{selection}} to use text you selected on the page
- {{gpt}} to reference the previous GPT output
You can also create custom parameters (e.g., {{p1}}, {{p2}}) and global parameters like {{g.tone}} to reuse in prompts.
How does chunking work?
Large language models have token limits. Chunking divides content into smaller parts (chunks) so each piece plus the prompt fits within the model’s token window. Chunks are processed sequentially using {{chunk}}. Context must be carried within the prompt if you need continuity across chunks.
How do I change the AI response language?
You can set the output language in the app settings, or include a {{language}} parameter in your prompt to instruct the AI to respond in a specific language.
How do I change the HARPA UI language?
HARPA’s user interface is currently available in English only. Internationalization to other languages is planned after major features are implemented.
Does HARPA have a CloudAI API?
Yes. The HARPA S plan includes CloudAI API access for reliable access to OpenAI and ClaudeAI models.
Does HARPA have a Server API?
This is a planned feature. You can follow product updates in the Discord community and vote for features you’d like to see implemented first.
Do you offer a Firefox version?
Not at the moment. A Firefox version and UI translations are planned after the major features are implemented.
How do I set up a web page monitor?
Set up a web page monitor in HARPA and it will periodically check the page for changes and notify you when updates occur.
