Free text expander, clipboard and notes for Mac, with AI in any app

What does TypeFire do?

TypeFire is a free Mac app that does three jobs: a text expander, a clipboard manager, and markdown notes. Each one opens over the app you're in, so you don't switch windows to use it.

Where the AI comes in: highlight text in any Mac app and rewrite, fix, translate or summarize it where it sits. It runs on Apple Intelligence or a local model with nothing leaving your Mac, or on your own OpenAI, Claude or Gemini key. There's no AI subscription and no allowance to run out of.

Snippets can carry AI too. Type a short abbreviation and the full text lands, with tokens that fill in the date, the clipboard, a form you answer as it expands, or an AI rewrite of whatever you had selected. Selection Prompts run one prompt on a selection; Prompt Chains run several in a row on one keystroke.

Clips keeps everything you copy, searchable, and reads the text inside screenshots on your Mac, so an image turns up when you search for a word that was in it.

Notes edits the markdown files you already have, an Obsidian vault included, with wikilinks, tables, quick capture from any app, and a graph that shows the connections it found between your notes, clips and snippets.

Sync goes through your own iCloud Drive with no TypeFire server in between. A free Chrome extension takes the snippets to Windows, Linux and ChromeOS. Free with no card; Pro is $18 once for unlimited clips, Selection Prompts, Prompt Chains and notes sync.
