The Face Shape Detector

The Face Shape Detector helps you discover which of seven face shapes best matches your facial proportions: oval, round, square, oblong, heart, diamond, or triangle. Instead of guessing, it measures your face from an image and returns both your shape and the underlying proportion numbers.

After you upload a photo (or use your camera), the analysis maps 468 facial landmarks in your browser and calculates four key measurements: face length, forehead width, cheekbone width, and jaw width, plus the jaw angle. It then compares length-to-width ratio, the taper between widths, and the gonial angle to separate similar shapes (like square vs. round) and flag borderline cases with explicit numeric reasoning.

You’ll also get shape-based styling guidance designed to balance your proportions, including recommendations for hairstyles, fringes, glasses, makeup, grooming, and necklines. Styling guidance is based on the idea of counterbalancing where your face reads wider, narrower, longer, or shorter.

Your privacy is built into the experience: your photo is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded, received, or stored on servers. No account is required, and the tool is available on modern phones, tablets, and desktop browsers. All tools on the site are free with no sign-up needed.

How does the detector determine my face shape?

Will my photo be uploaded or stored?

No—photo detection runs entirely inside your browser, with no upload or server storage. Closing the tab discards everything.

Is the tool free, and do I need an account?

Yes, it’s free and you don’t need to create an account. There’s also nothing to install or update.

Why might I get a different result from a different photo?

Small changes in photo conditions—like hair covering the face, expression, camera angle/height, lighting, or selfie distortion—can shift the measured proportions enough to move the result within a boundary between shapes.

Can I use it on my phone or tablet?

Yes. It works on phones, tablets, and desktop in modern browsers, and you can either upload a photo or use your device camera.
