Rede is a local dictation app for macOS 26 (Tahoe) that turns speech into text right on your Mac. Hold Control, speak, and release to get clean writing, with fillers cut and your text pasted for you to send or edit.

Rede keeps your audio on your device. Recently dictated text can be stored on this Mac for quick recall, and you can also save dictation history for a chosen time window.

You can optionally enable managed cloud cleanup: you get 5,000 words free, then a plan is required to continue cleanup. Dictation itself stays free. Rede is available as a download (not from the Mac App Store).

How do I use Rede for dictation?

Does Rede send my audio off my Mac?
