What does DropMeta do?

DropMeta helps you remove hidden metadata from common file types directly in your browser. It’s designed for everyday privacy cleanup of photos, PDFs, video, and Office documents—so your files stay in your session and you download a cleaned copy.

Processing happens on-device with no upload and no account. Supported types include JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, GIF, and BMP for images; PDF for author/title/creator and date fields; MP4/MOV for video metadata; and DOCX/XLSX/PPTX for document properties plus comments and revisions where available. For images and PDFs, batch mode lets you process multiple items and download a ZIP.

DropMeta also includes verification after stripping, and it may block download if location residue remains (images) or if PDF XMP can’t be removed cleanly. Encrypted PDFs are rejected rather than partially cleaned, helping you avoid “false clean” downloads.

Is DropMeta a metadata cleaner or something else?

DropMeta is a client-side metadata cleaner that strips hidden metadata from supported photos, PDFs, video, and Office documents, then lets you download a cleaned copy.

Do I need an account or will my files be uploaded?

No account is required, and files are processed on-device in your browser. They are never uploaded.

What file types can I strip with DropMeta?

You can remove metadata from JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, GIF, and BMP; PDF; MP4 and MOV (up to 100MB); and DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX.

Does DropMeta change the actual pixels in my images?

For JPEG images, a normal metadata strip does not recompress pixels, so you can remove EXIF without an image quality hit. HEIC handling may convert to JPEG if it can’t strip cleanly.

What happens if the metadata strip verification fails?

DropMeta performs verification after stripping. If location residue remains for images or required PDF XMP can’t be removed cleanly, it blocks download and shows an error instead of letting you download a potentially incomplete result.

Does DropMeta support batch removal?

Yes—batch mode covers photos and PDFs (up to the UI limit) and downloads the cleaned outputs as a ZIP.
