How is WhisperAPI priced?
WhisperAPI uses a simple pay-as-you-go credits system. You purchase API credits and use them when transcribing. You start with 5 free credits to test the API. Credits never expire. Pricing tiers (per credit) are:
- 20 API Credits for $5 ($0.25/credit)
- 100 API Credits for $20 ($0.20/credit)
- 200 API Credits for $30 ($0.15/credit)
- 1,000 API Credits for $100 ($0.10/credit)
Transcriptions consume credits based on the model size, speaker diarization features, and the file size. You can purchase credits anytime and use them whenever you need transcriptions. There are no monthly fees or hidden charges.
Do API credits expire?
No. API credits never expire. Once purchased, you can use them at any time.
Do I need an OpenAI API key to use WhisperAPI?
No. WhisperAPI hosts its own Whisper model. You don’t need an OpenAI API key, and we’ll generate an API key for you to use the service.
How long do you keep my audio/video files?
Uploaded files are automatically deleted after 24 hours. Transcriptions text is retained in your account for access.
Can I use WhisperAPI if I'm not a developer?
Yes. A no-code browser dashboard lets you transcribe files with just a few clicks—no coding required.
What file formats and size limits are supported?
WhisperAPI supports most common audio and video formats, including MP3, WAV, MP4, M4A, and more. Files can be up to 10GB in size with a Pro subscription.
How accurate are the transcriptions?
WhisperAPI uses OpenAI’s Whisper model, delivering high accuracy. In clear audio across supported languages, accuracy is very high (99.8% accuracy cited for strong inputs); results can vary based on audio quality, background noise, and accents.
What languages does WhisperAPI support?
WhisperAPI supports 98+ languages and automatically detects the spoken language.
Can I choose between model sizes for speed vs. accuracy?
Yes. You can choose between different Whisper model sizes to balance speed and accuracy. The largest model is selected by default, but you can pick smaller models and see the exact credit cost before transcription. You can also fine-tune model parameters for your specific use case.
How fast are transcriptions?
Transcriptions are fast—described as lightning fast, with results in minutes rather than hours.
Is there a free trial or free credits to get started?
Yes. You can start for free with 5 credits to test the API, with no commitment or credit card required.
Is there a no-code dashboard?
Yes. The no-code dashboard offers drag-and-drop uploading, real-time transcription progress, and downloads in multiple formats.
Can I upload files via a URL, not just from my device?
Yes. WhisperAPI supports direct file uploads as well as remote URLs for transcription.

Can I download transcripts in formats other than plain text?
