What does TatTryOn do?
TatTryOn helps you explore tattoo ideas before committing. Use the Classic tattoo simulator to place a design on your photo and adjust how it sits—move it around, resize it, rotate it, and fine-tune opacity. You can compare your preview to your original image, then download a placement reference to bring to your tattoo artist.
You can start with built-in design references from multiple styles (like fine line, minimal, geometric, blackwork, and watercolor) or upload your own artwork. Upload a body photo to preview placement for areas you’re considering, using supported PNG, JPEG, or WebP files (up to 15 MB). The preview is a visual reference for composition and scale, not a final outcome.
TatTryOn also includes an AI Tattoo Generator to turn an idea into tattoo design artwork. After generating, you can preview the resulting design using the Classic simulator. AI generation requires sign-in and uses a daily free allowance (up to 2 free designs per day) with a 5-design daily limit per IP address, or you can use your available credits.
All uploaded images used in the Classic workflow stay in your browser for your current try-on experience, and local drafts are saved only on the device/browser for up to 24 hours of inactivity. Use TatTryOn to make placement conversations easier—your artist should confirm final alignment directly on your body.
How do I try a tattoo design on my photo?
Open the tattoo simulator, choose Body, and upload a clear photo (PNG, JPEG, or WebP up to 15 MB). Select a design, drag it into position, then adjust size, rotation, and opacity. Use Preview Result to compare with your original photo and download a placement reference.
Can I use my own tattoo artwork for the try-on?
Yes. Upload your design to preview how it may look in different placements. A transparent background helps the photo show around the artwork, and you can also use simple white-background removal for uploaded designs.
Do I need to sign up to use the free Classic try-on?
No. The Classic try-on is free and doesn’t require sign-up. Your local draft is saved only on the device/browser used for that session.
Is the tattoo try-on accurate?
It’s helpful for comparing visible scale, angle, and placement within a single photograph. It can’t predict healed ink, skin texture, movement, or how a tattoo wraps on curved surfaces, so treat it as a discussion reference—not a guaranteed result.
Can I generate AI tattoo designs and preview placement?
Yes. Use the AI Tattoo Generator to create tattoo artwork, then preview it in the Classic simulator. Sign in is required for AI generation, with up to 2 free designs per day (subject to a 5-design daily limit per IP address) or your available credits.
Do my photos stay private while I use Classic?
Your uploaded images stay in your browser for the current Classic workflow. You can remove the local draft from the Adjust panel and delete your draft whenever you want.
