AI Book Writing Tools & Generators
AI-powered book indexing tool for PDF books.

What does PDF Index Generator do?
A desktop application for authors, publishers, and editors who need to create a back-of-book index from a finished PDF proof. The software scans the document to locate specified words and phrases, then compiles them into an alphabetical list with correct page references. Two workflows are available. A rule-based mode builds the index from a user-provided list of terms. An AI-assisted mode analyzes the document context and suggests terms to index, which the user can accept or reject before the final index is generated. The AI mode also handles reversing names, turning "John Smith" into "Smith, John", and grouping related concepts under common headings. The program works offline, so the document contents are not uploaded to any external server. It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Index results can be saved as a PDF page appended to the original file or exported to DOCX format for further editing. The tool is targeted at users who need one index for a single project, as well as publishers who handle multiple titles per year. A free trial allows indexing the first 10 pages of a document.
