What does BitDive do?
BitDive records real Java runtime behavior at the method level and turns it into runtime context that AI agents can use before they write code. Through MCP, connected agents can inspect actual execution details—such as method parameters and return values, SQL queries (including parameters and result sets), call hierarchies, and downstream service operations—so implementation plans aren’t based on guesses from source alone.
After an AI-driven change, BitDive supports deterministic verification using a dual-trace workflow. The agent triggers the same scenario again, captures a new trace, and compares it to the baseline. Unchanged behavior stays identical, while changed methods and data interactions show up in the trace diff. This diff is used as proof of what shifted (and what didn’t), including SQL patterns/results, runtime API contract drift, and downstream effects.
Once the trace diff is accepted, BitDive preserves verified behavior as replay-based JUnit suites. It creates or refreshes replay-based JUnit 5 regression tests with automatically generated mocks from recorded dependency behavior, so teams can run `mvn test` locally or in CI without relying on live infrastructure dependencies.
BitDive is available for free for solo developers, while team features and private deployments are offered on paid plans.
What does BitDive capture for AI agents?
BitDive captures method-level runtime context, including exact method inputs/outputs, SQL queries with parameters and result sets, and execution call hierarchies plus downstream operations.
How do AI agents verify their code changes with BitDive?
Agents trigger the same scenario after a change, capture a new runtime trace, and compare it to the baseline trace using a before-and-after diff to confirm intended behavior and detect unintended shifts.
Does BitDive generate regression tests from verified executions?
Yes. After the trace diff is accepted, BitDive creates or refreshes replay-based JUnit 5 suites from the verified execution so you can run `mvn test` as regression memory.
Which AI coding assistants can connect via BitDive?
Any tool that implements the Model Context Protocol (MCP), including Cursor, Claude Desktop, and Windsurf.
Where does the data run when using BitDive?
BitDive runs locally or on your private infrastructure. Runtime data is shared only with the AI agent you explicitly connect to via your local MCP client.
Is BitDive free to use?
Solo developers can use BitDive for free, while team features and private deployments are provided via paid plans.
